In the pursuit of adding a bit of charm to his everyday routine, Jouji Ema finds solace in counting the adorable things he encounters. His all-boys school presents a challenge to this whimsical habit—except for one standout: his classmate, Miyoshi Hayashi. A chance encounter at the sports festival ignites a peculiar connection, as Hayashi begins to shadow Ema, persistently inquiring if he’s perceived as cute. Ema is both bewildered and intrigued by Hayashi’s candid, quirky demeanor, which slowly draws him into an unexpected friendship.

Meanwhile, Yuuichi Medaka faces an uphill battle when he is seated in front of Akira Nikaidou, a boy shrouded in mystery and rumored to carry an ominous reputation. Undeterred, Medaka makes it his mission to break through Nikaidou's seemingly impenetrable exterior and forge a connection. As he navigates the complexities of their interactions, Medaka starts to uncover that Nikaidou may not be the harbinger of bad luck everyone believes him to be. Through these intertwining experiences, both boys embark on their own journeys of self-discovery and friendship amidst the trials of school life.
