Thirteen years after reaching the heights of the majors with the Indiana Hornets, Gorou Honda’s time as a pitcher comes to a sudden end when a devastating injury derails his career. Refusing to let that be his final chapter, he looks to his father—who kept playing through serious setbacks—as motivation to return to baseball in a different role.

Gorou throws himself into training with the same stubborn drive as ever, but that single-minded focus unsettles those closest to him. His family struggles to understand his choices, and his young daughter Izumi in particular grows resentful of how often he’s away. When yet another challenge stands in his path, Gorou once again turns to the sport he loves to show what he’s made of.
