Six years after a disastrous incident at the Tower of Fang, the magical sword Baltanders left its mark on the gifted mage Azalie, twisting her into a massive dragon feared as Bloody August. Among those shaken by what happened was Krilancelo, a young magician who held Azalie dear—and who was appalled to find the Tower’s elders more interested in burying the truth than attempting a rescue.

Refusing to accept their decision, Krilancelo abandons the Tower and his former name, taking up the identity of Orphen. With his studies behind him and a single goal ahead, he sets out across the world in search of a way to restore Azalie to who she once was.
