Makoto spends a summer evening at the festival with Ryuuko, then follows through on a promise to meet Erio at an old temple for a quiet night of stargazing. Together they watch the Perseid meteor shower, enjoying the stillness away from the crowds.

Their calm is interrupted when Yashiro appears, announcing she’s leaving—though not before demonstrating her supposed esper abilities. After warning Makoto to move back, a meteorite crashes down exactly where he had been standing, shattering the torii gate and leaving him with only a minor injury. Shaken and confused, Makoto can’t help questioning whether Yashiro might truly be an esper—or even an alien—and whether such things can really be dismissed as impossible.
