Makoto Niwa keeps a careful score of his “youth,” logging every good and bad experience as if he can grade his own adolescence. When his parents leave the country, he relocates to a seaside town to live with his aunt, expecting the move to be a clean, ordinary reset—until an unexpected presence in the house upends that plan.

Waiting for him is Erio Touwa, a cousin he’s never met and a mystery to everyone around her. The same age as Makoto, Erio spends her days wrapped in a futon instead of attending school, and insists she’s an alien—an odd claim made harder to dismiss by her peculiar way of speaking and behaving. As Makoto crosses paths with more quirky girls in town, his carefully managed idea of a “normal” youth begins to drift into stranger, livelier territory.
