Arakawa Under the Bridge

Kou Ichinomiya, the proud son of a powerful businessman, lives by a strict rule: never owe anyone anything. That conviction shatters after a scuffle with some troublesome kids on Arakawa Bridge sends him into the river below—only for a passerby to pull him to safety, leaving him burdened with a debt he can’t simply ignore.

Determined to “repay” what he considers an unacceptable obligation, Kou confronts his rescuer and discovers Nino: a quiet, tracksuit-clad homeless girl who lives in a cardboard box beneath the bridge. Her request is disarmingly simple—she wants to fall in love, and she asks Kou to be her boyfriend. With no way to refuse without breaking his own code, Kou trades his polished life for an unexpected new one under the bridge.
