Synopsis
After being beaten and stripped of everything he owns, Ryuunosuke Ibuki is taken in by Kamo Serizawa, who offers him a place at his side as a personal attendant. The “second chance” comes with a cost: Ibuki’s new life leaves him treated more like property than a person under one of Kyoto’s most powerful figures.
As ronin violence spreads through the city, the shogunate dispatches the Roshigumi to restore order. The group is led by the principled, soft-spoken Isami Kondou and made up of capable swordsmen, yet they lack the political ties needed to secure a foothold in Kyoto. Forced to choose between influence and independence, Kondou strikes an uneasy partnership with the abrasive Serizawa, trading their strength for access. Though Ibuki despises what samurai represent, his involvement with the Roshigumi draws him into their struggles—and challenges his belief that every warrior lives without honor—against a backdrop of mounting tension that foreshadows the birth of the Shinsengumi.
