Night on the Galactic Railroad

Giovanni lives on the edge of a quiet rural town, carrying worries far beyond his years. With his mother confined to bed and his father still absent after leaving to work on a fishing boat, he drifts through school as a lonely outsider—except for Campanella, the mayor’s son and his only close friend.

On the night of the Festival of Stars, Giovanni gazes up from a hillside and sees something impossible: a steam train gliding through the sky. When he climbs aboard, Campanella is already there, and together they ride a mysterious galactic railroad, encountering strange passengers and passing through vistas that are at once breathtaking and unsettling.
