Penguindrum

With their parents gone, brothers Kanba and Shouma Takakura devote themselves to caring for their fragile younger sister, Himari, whose condition has reached a critical point. When she’s briefly allowed out of the hospital, they take her to an aquarium for a small celebration—only for Himari to suddenly collapse, bringing their already-precarious world to a halt.

A souvenir-shop penguin hat inexplicably restores Himari to life, but the miracle comes with strings attached. Something else now resides within her, and its demand pulls the twins into a tense, surreal hunt for the enigmatic “Penguin Drum,” drawing them toward buried truths from their own past and into the paths of others chasing the same fate-altering prize.
