Soreyuke! Uchuu Senkan Yamamoto Youko (1999)

In the distant future of 2999, humanity finds itself divided into two opposing factions, Terra and Ness, engaged in fierce battles among the stars. At the forefront of this conflict is the brash young pilot Yamamoto Yohko, whose confidence and skill make her a standout. During a critical mission, she and her crew are unexpectedly drawn into a temporal rift, transporting her back to the present day, where she assumes the life of an ordinary high school student, her memories of the war and her true identity lost.

As events unfold, Yohko gradually uncovers her past and is thrust back into the cockpit of her starship, the TA-29. Joined by newfound friends, she finds herself entangled in a conflict that eerily resembles a classic arcade game, complete with the necessity of "spending" to engage in battle. Balancing her dual life as a student and a space warrior, Yohko navigates the challenges of friendship and duty in a world where the lines between reality and the game begin to blur.
