Les Misérables: Shoujo Cosette

Set in 19th-century France, *Les Misérables: Shoujo Cosette* follows Fantine, a destitute single mother who entrusts her three-year-old daughter, Cosette, to the Thénardiers. The arrangement turns cruel: Cosette is treated as a servant and subjected to relentless abuse, yet she clings to the hope of being reunited with her mother.

During an errand one cold night, Cosette encounters Jean Valjean, a principled stranger moved by her situation. Recognizing the kind of person he has been searching for, he intervenes and takes her away from the Thénardiers, bringing her to a nearby town where she can finally begin a safer, kinder life. With Valjean’s guidance, Cosette vows to use her freedom to help others and to work toward a France less burdened by poverty and suffering in the long shadow of the Revolution’s aftermath.
