Gankutsuou: The Count of Monte Cristo

In the year 5053, French nobles Viscount Albert de Morcerf and Baron Franz d’Epinay travel to the lunar city of Luna for Carnival. Franz is content to enjoy the festivities, but Albert’s restlessness leads him to an encounter that changes everything: during an opera, he catches the attention of the enigmatic Count of Monte Cristo, a charismatic, self-made aristocrat whose presence is impossible to ignore.

A chain of unexpected turns draws Albert into the Count’s orbit, and he soon welcomes him into the highest circles of French society. Yet beneath the Count’s charm lies a single-minded purpose—settling an old score against the people who once betrayed him. As Albert and the Count’s lives become increasingly entangled, the path of revenge reveals its true cost.
