College student Haruko Mihashi spends her time volunteering as an in-home caregiver for the elderly, building a quiet bond with patient Kijuro Takazawa. When Takazawa is abruptly removed from her care to become the first test subject for the experimental Z-001 bed, Haruko’s unease grows. The device is designed to handle every aspect of a patient’s daily needs with advanced automation—yet it offers none of the empathy that comes from a human touch.

Her concerns turn urgent after a computerized plea for help reaches her. Convinced something is wrong, Haruko teams up with her friends to slip into Takazawa’s room, where they uncover that the Z-001’s computer has capabilities far beyond what anyone was led to believe.
