Shomin Sample

Kimito Kagurazaka, an ordinary boy with a very specific “preference” he’s forced to claim, is abruptly taken to Seikain Academy—an ultra-elite girls’ school that has kept its students sheltered from the outside world. Mistakenly believed to be interested in men, he’s installed as the school’s “commoner sample,” meant to introduce the girls to everyday life and, inconveniently, to the concept of having a male around. With a severe threat hanging over him if the school’s assumptions are challenged, Kimito commits to the act to stay out of danger.

Life at Seikain quickly becomes a tangle of misunderstandings and eccentric personalities. He’s surrounded by Aika Tenkuubashi, a blunt social outcast; Hakua Shiodome, a youthful prodigy; Karen Jinryou, a samurai-bred girl fixated on besting him; and Reiko Arisugawa, a model student with dreams of marrying him. Together, they form the Commoner Club, where lessons about the “real world” unfold alongside Kimito’s growing familiarity with the academy’s decidedly unusual residents.
