Synopsis
After the alien Amanto seize control of Edo, the samurai of what was once feudal Japan are stripped of their swords and status, left to endure humiliation as the newcomers tighten their grip on the country. The old order has crumbled, and resentment simmers beneath the city’s uneasy peace.
Kotarou Katsura, head of the Anti-Foreigner faction, decides the only way to reclaim a samurai’s pride is to drive out the Amanto—no matter how extreme the tactics. Armed with a giant mecha, he sets his sights on the Shinsengumi, Edo’s elite samurai police force, and prepares to strike.
Elsewhere, Gintoki Sakata and the Yorozuya crew head out for a simple cherry blossom outing, only to run into the Shinsengumi, who accuse Gintoki of taking their chosen spot. What starts as a petty dispute quickly escalates into chaos, culminating in a rock-paper-scissors showdown where “fair play” comes with a distinctly rough edge.
