Yako Katsuragi has built a reputation as a brilliant high school detective, seemingly capable of cracking any case and bringing culprits to justice. Behind the success of her detective agency, however, is a secret partner: her quiet assistant, Neuro Nougami, is the one unraveling the mysteries while Yako takes the credit in public.

Neuro is no ordinary helper—he’s a demon who crossed into the human world after exhausting every puzzle in his own realm, hunting for an “ultimate” mystery to satisfy him. Using Yako as his public face, he feeds on the negative energy that surfaces when people commit crimes, all while keeping his true nature out of sight. In return for her cooperation, Neuro pledges to aid Yako in pursuing the truth behind her father’s death, and the pair moves from case to case, balancing her personal search with his insatiable appetite for riddles.
