First Love Monster

Kaho Nikaidou, a sheltered freshman from a powerful family, has grown up with everyone treating her with careful politeness. Hoping to start over somewhere she won’t be singled out for her background, she moves into a school dorm for the new year. Not long after arriving, she nearly steps into traffic—only to be pulled to safety by a tall, good-looking stranger who bluntly calls her weird before walking off. For Kaho, it’s the first time anyone has been even slightly rude to her, and she instantly becomes infatuated.

When she meets him again and learns his name is Kanade Takahashi, Kaho confesses her feelings. Kanade agrees to date her, but warns that she might change her mind once she knows his secret. The surprise is immediate: Kanade is actually a fifth grader. Kaho tries to end things, yet the more time she spends with him, the harder it becomes to let go, as her first romance unfolds with a boyfriend who may be childish, but isn’t unkind.
