Natsume's Book of Friends Season 5 Specials

Takashi Natsume loses his way in the woods after an errand and is helped by a wandering youkai couple who earn their living crafting sake cups. When he drinks water from their “One Night Cup,” a sudden vitality washes over him—the cup can make any drink taste wonderful, but only until the night is over. The next day, Natsume and his steadfast guardian Madara, a chubby cat with a fondness for sake, attend a youkai banquet where Natsume is granted a rare chance to learn the art of making the cups himself.

Elsewhere, Natsume can’t shake his regret after turning down one of Madara’s unusual banquet invitations. He follows him to a dilapidated old mansion, only to sense a crowd of youkai lurking nearby. There he meets the captivating youkai Hinoe, who reveals the abandoned estate is used for a game of hide-and-seek—one where the victor gains authority over an entire valley. With Madara still missing, Natsume begins to have unsettling dreams of the mansion, now placing him inside the game as a participant.
