On a sweltering summer day, Takashi Natsume heads out with Madara to pick up jelly. Their ordinary errand turns strange when a passing truck strikes an elderly masked man who calls out to Natsume for help. The figure is revealed to be a youkai—the spirit of the Suzunaru tree, recently felled after a lightning strike—and, as the tree fades, it entrusts Natsume with a quiet final request: to bring it water each day until the end.

**Mugen no Kakera**

A schoolgirl named Tamami walks through the woods while counting her steps, guided by notes she’s been given. After resting and drifting off, she’s startled awake by a peculiar talking cat, and through the cat and its human companion—Natsume—she comes to understand that the forest holds a world apart from the present, where unseen things can be witnessed. Choosing to rely on them, Tamami shares her connection to a white owl that returned in her dreams and led her back toward the forest’s unsettling depths.
