Synopsis
In Hokkaido, whispers spread of a hidden cache of gold—said to have been taken from its Ainu owners by a murderer who concealed it before his arrest. With no way to reveal the location directly, he left the clues in a brutal form: a map tattooed across the bodies of fellow prisoners, each promised a share if they escaped and helped recover the treasure.
As the scramble for those tattooed skins intensifies, First Lieutenant Tokushirou Tsurumi seeks to tip the balance for the 7th Division by enlisting a taxidermist to produce convincing decoys that only he can identify as counterfeit. Saichi Sugimoto, Asirpa, and their allies press on with their own search, drawn to an unsettling lead from Yubari—where a burglar’s break-in uncovered taxidermied human remains, including a tattoo-marked torso that may point to the next piece of the map.
