Months after a Mars probe disintegrates during reentry, Tokyo is struck by the sudden emergence of vicious beings known as “Ancients.” Conventional weapons prove useless against them, and as researchers scramble for answers, the outbreaks spread beyond Japan, leaving destruction in their wake.

A potential countermeasure arrives with the MARS suit, a combat system engineered specifically to fight the Ancients—but it can only be used by people with the right DNA. Takeru Hinata, a teenager carrying a difficult past, is among the rare compatible candidates. Backed by the AAST, a specialized police unit formed to confront the threat, he’s drawn into a brutal struggle to survive and uncover what these new invaders truly are.
