Sixth-grader Kanna Hayama has always loved running, a joy she shared with her mother, Yayoi—until Yayoi’s death turns that passion into a painful reminder. Kanna’s outlook shifts when she stumbles upon a startling secret connected to her mother’s true identity.

Kanna soon meets an unexpected pair: a divine messenger taking the form of her beloved rabbit, Shiro, and a demon boy named Yasha. They explain that Yayoi was an “Idaten,” a god-descended runner blessed with extraordinary speed and tasked with delivering offerings from across Japan to the yearly Kamiari Festival in Izumo. Now, as Yayoi’s daughter and the new holder of the Idaten amulet, Kanna must inherit the duty—because failing to do so could bring serious consequences for the nation’s fortunes in the year ahead.

Drawn by the chance to see her mother again at the gathering of gods, Kanna agrees to undertake the journey with Shiro and Yasha at her side. What begins like a relentless, marathon-like delivery run becomes a supernatural trek that challenges far more than her stamina.
