Satomi Amano is an exemplary student—and the daughter of the chief project manager at Hoshima, the company behind groundbreaking advances in AI. Her reputation and family ties, however, have left her standing apart from her classmates, a distance she isn’t sure can ever be closed.

One morning, Satomi learns of her mother’s newest undertaking: an experiment meant to test whether humans and robots can truly coexist. By the time she arrives at school, the project has already begun—an AI named Shion Ashimori is introduced in her classroom, expected to blend in as an ordinary teenage girl without revealing what she is. Yet Shion quietly pursues a different objective: to bring happiness to Satomi, using her gift for song to build connections, befriend those around her, and ease the loneliness Satomi carries.
