Kamichu!

Set in the laid-back seaside town of Onomichi during the 1980s, *Kamichu!* follows middle schooler Yurie Hitotsubashi, whose biggest concerns are exams and getting the attention of Kenji, the boy she likes. Everything shifts at lunch one day when she casually tells her friend Mitsue that she became a goddess overnight.

Classmate Matsuri immediately sees an opportunity: her family’s struggling Shinto shrine could use a new draw, and Yurie's sudden divinity might be the answer. With Matsuri acting as an eager “manager,” Yurie tries to balance ordinary school life with the odd responsibilities of a local deity—granting requests, dealing with curses, and navigating a world where the supernatural brushes up against everyday routines, all while she works up the nerve to share her feelings with Kenji.
