Finn, a streetwise drifter, heads to a casino hoping to win enough money to keep his orphanage from shutting down. Instead, he’s swept into a violent car chase and a bloody shootout sparked by a mysterious “lucky” card—an encounter that pulls him into a conflict far bigger than a single night’s gamble.

Behind the chaos lies a set of 52 X-Playing cards capable of granting their holders distinct superhuman abilities by awakening a hidden “buddy” within. Under direct orders from the king of Fourland, a covert team known as High Card works to recover the scattered cards while posing as employees of the luxury carmaker Pinochle. Recruited as the group’s fifth member, Finn joins the hunt—only to find powerful enemies closing in, including the rival manufacturer Who’s Who and the notorious Mafia family, the Klondikes.
