Kaina of the Great Snow Sea

Humanity teeters on the edge of extinction in a world buried under snow, where fresh water is painfully scarce. The last livable regions lie at the bases of colossal Orbital Trees rising from a ruined Earth, and a long-held legend speaks of a sage who knows how to restore water in abundance.

Ririha, princess of Atland, ascends one of these trees in an organic hot-air balloon, determined to find her people’s hoped-for savior. At the Canopy—an expanse resembling an endless pane of clear ice—she encounters Kaina, one of the few remaining inhabitants there, but the figure she sought is nowhere to be found.

Stranded far from home, Ririha accepts Kaina’s help as he seizes the chance to see the surface he once believed empty. Their journey draws them into the realities below, including conflict with Valghia, a hostile and technologically superior nation, and the growing dangers that make Kaina’s promise to escort her back far more daunting than expected.
