Orb: On the Movements of the Earth

In early 15th-century Poland, twelve-year-old prodigy Rafal prides himself on reason and self-control, aiming for the approval of a society that rewards discipline over emotion. He openly declares his plan to study theology, the most esteemed field of the time—until a chance meeting with a mysterious man unsettles his carefully ordered path and awakens a stubborn pull toward astronomy.

Drawn to the idea of heliocentrism—that Earth moves around the Sun—Rafal sets out to demonstrate its elegance through observation and calculation. Yet the Church’s authority enforces geocentrism as unquestionable truth, branding dissent as heresy and punishing it with horrific severity. As Rafal works to develop sound theories and precise figures, he must also learn how to pursue knowledge in secrecy, knowing that discovery could cost him everything.
