Saki

First-year high schooler Saki Miyanaga wants nothing to do with mahjong, shaped by experiences from her childhood. Even when she’s persuaded to sit at the table, she plays carefully and quietly, determined not to draw attention. That plan falters when her friend Kyoutarou Suga pulls her into the school’s mahjong club, where she meets accomplished player Nodoka Haramura—last year’s national middle school champion—along with club member Yuuki Kataoka.

During a few practice games, club president Hisa Takei picks up on Saki’s distinctive approach and pushes her to reveal what she can really do. Saki’s unexpected skill rattles Nodoka’s pride, souring their first impressions of each other. But as Saki joins the club and the misunderstanding between them eases, the group begins to click—setting their sights on a single objective: reaching the national stage and winning.
