Takumi Miyasaka arrives at Astro Lodge expecting a polished restaurant and an interview for a head chef role—only to find a shabby boarding house. Even so, he cooks to prove himself, quickly winning over the lodge’s quirky residents. The most delighted is the warm, captivating landlady, Mira Gotokuji, who’s instantly taken with his food, while Takumi finds himself drawn to her in return. Before long, he accepts a job making breakfast for the house and settles into Room 5.

As days pass, Takumi can’t ignore how out of step Mira seems with everyday life: modern technology baffles her, and Japanese cuisine is strangely unfamiliar. Then there’s the odd voice he hears coming from her room—clues that point to a truth he doesn’t yet suspect: Mira is an alien, newly arrived on Earth and quietly carrying out a secret mission.
