Synopsis

Online streamer Aoringo thrives on outrage, churning out deliberately provocative, boundary-pushing content and cashing in on the clicks of furious hate-watchers. To most people, he’s a shameless troublemaker feeding off negativity.

Away from the screen, Aoringo is Souji Enishiro, a high school dropout and devoted older brother with a sweet tooth whose only priority is his little sister. The persona and the backlash are simply a means to cover her medical bills—no matter how much the world despises him, he’ll take it as long as she has a chance to recover. Then unsettling, inexplicable events begin to creep into his life, pulling him toward the supernatural.

Otaku Consensus

Dead Account landed as a divisive but watchable shounen occult-action entry: SynergySP and director Hiroya Saitou give its ghost, curse, and exorcism material a brisk single-cour shape, with the strongest pull coming from its urban-fantasy combat and nastier body-horror edge. Its 6.62 MAL score and 65/100 AniList score point to a series that intrigued genre fans more than it fully satisfied them, with the common ceiling being that a 12-episode run leaves its most distinctive digital-age hook feeling less developed than its supernatural fights.

Why You Should Watch

Watch Dead Account if you want exorcism action with a sharper internet-age poison to it: less traditional shrine-and-ritual atmosphere, more urban fantasy built around malice, curses, ghosts, and weaponized public attention. It scratches part of the same itch as Jujutsu Kaisen or Bleach for viewers who like supernatural combat systems, but its 12-episode length makes it a lower-commitment hit of shounen aggression rather than a long saga. The appeal is in the collision of ugly online persona work, boarding-school occult structure, super-powered confrontations, and flashes of body horror. If you prefer clean moral heroes, this is not the pitch; if you like protagonists whose survival strategy is already morally abrasive before the ghosts arrive, Dead Account has a nastier flavor than its score suggests.

Key Characters

  • S
    Souji Enishiro

Souji is compelling because the series frames him as both a dropout and a caretaker, making his worst public behavior inseparable from a private loyalty that complicates the usual shounen-protagonist morality.

  • A
    Aoringo

Aoringo functions less like a simple alias and more like a weaponized performance, the kind of online identity fans discuss for how directly it turns hate-watching and outrage economics into character texture.

What Makes It Stand Out

  • 1

SynergySP handled the animation production for a complete 12-episode TV run that aired from January 10 to March 28, 2026, giving the adaptation a compact Winter 2026 footprint rather than a split-cour or long-running format.

  • 2

AniList’s tag profile is unusually decisive: Exorcism, Ghost, and Urban Fantasy all sit at 100%, with Super Power at 90%, Curses at 88%, and Body Horror at 60%, marking it as a supernatural action series with a stronger horror texture than a standard school-battle setup.

  • 3

The school framework is not incidental in the database metadata: Boarding School is tagged at 85% and School at 80%, positioning the series closer to institutional occult training and conflict than to purely street-level ghost hunting.

  • 4

The production credits pair two art directors, Saho Yamane and Seika Fujii, with Haruka Serizawa as director of photography, a staffing structure that points to separate emphasis on background design and final compositing rather than treating the supernatural visuals as only animation effects.

  • 5

Keiji Inai composed the music, while Ryousuke Naya served as sound director and Miyu Kaneko performed the ending theme, giving the series a clearly credited audio identity beyond its action and horror tags.
