Starting middle school should be stressful enough, but Yuri Otani is pressured into joining the “Alien Party,” a small group assigned one unnerving job: intercept any aliens that try to slip onto campus. With a lifelong fear of extraterrestrials, Yuri can barely cope—especially when she’s issued a “Borg,” a strange, alienlike companion meant to protect her whether she wants it or not.

Leaning on her two teammates helps her endure the assignment: Kumi Kawamura, steady and self-reliant, and the bright, high-energy Kasumi Tomine. As they patrol the school with roller blades and lacrosse sticks, the Alien Party faces escalating encounters that test their resolve, forcing Yuri to confront the dread she’s tried to avoid.
