Nina Yamada has always longed for a storybook-style protector—until that wish takes an unexpected turn. After swallowing a mysterious pink “candy,” she becomes the center of a bizarre incident as people begin dropping from the sky, all drawn to what she unknowingly ingested: the Crystal Pearl.

The Crystal Pearl is a coveted symbol from another world, fought over by magic users competing in an exam whose victor earns the status of a professional wizard. Two examinees, Zero and Ichii, realize the pearl is inside Nina and vow to keep her safe until the test concludes. With rival candidates closing in, Nina’s life becomes a whirlwind of danger—and plenty of awkward attention when she shows up at school trailed by two striking boys.
