Living for the Day After Tomorrow

On the verge of starting junior high, Karada Iokawa tries hard to be seen as more than a kid—bright, capable, and especially sensitive to being talked down to. After the death of her parents, her older brother Hiro returns from studying overseas to look after her. His former girlfriend, Shouko Nogami, also comes back to Japan, determined to learn why he left her behind. Calm on the surface but stubborn at heart, Shouko quickly clashes with Karada, and their strained relationship boils over when Shouko dismisses her as childish.

Upset, Karada visits a shrine and prays to grow up, unaware that a wishing stone will answer her request. The next thing she knows, Karada has aged forward—while Shouko, who is nearby, is inexplicably turned into a child. With their ages suddenly reversed, the two are forced into close contact, confronting their resentment, their insecurities, and what it truly means to “grow up.”
