From Up on Poppy Hill

Perched above a seaside harbor, the boarding house Coquelicot Manor is part of Umi Matsuzaki’s everyday life. With her family running the home, she helps keep it going—cooking and handling the quiet responsibilities of a place shared with other residents—before heading off to her local high school, where a growing dispute is taking over campus.

As preparations for the upcoming Olympic Games push the school toward modernization, an aging clubhouse cherished by students is slated for demolition. Determined to save it, classmates rally together, and Umi lends her support by assisting the newspaper club’s efforts to publicize the movement. Through that work she grows close to Shun Kazama, and their friendship begins to shift into something deeper—until questions about Shun’s unknown background draw them into a search for answers, revealing an unexpected connection between their lives.
