Nai is searching for a dear friend when he’s captured by a striking woman with a horrifying appetite for human flesh. At the same time, the sharp-witted thief Gareki breaks into her lavish residence, and a chance diversion gives the two an opening to escape together. Their flight turns desperate when their captor returns and reveals a monstrous form, forcing Nai and Gareki to run for their lives.

They’re soon taken in by Circus, a government defense organization that handles threats beyond the police and protects civilians from varuga—man-eating creatures. Hoping Circus can help him find his missing friend, Nai chooses to join, with Gareki alongside him. As they confront increasingly dangerous varuga, the pair begin to glimpse the hidden workings of a mysterious group known as Kafka.
