A Lull in the Sea

Long ago, humanity lived beneath the ocean, protected by a divine blessing known as Ena that allowed them to breathe underwater. When some chose to leave for life on the surface, they forfeited that protection, and the divide between sea-dwellers and surface residents gradually hardened—despite the two worlds never fully losing contact.

Hikari Sakishima and Manaka Mukaido, along with childhood friends Chisaki Hiradaira and Kaname Isaki, are pushed into that tension firsthand when they must leave their undersea home to attend school on land. There they meet Tsumugu Kihara, a fisherman’s son and classmate with a deep affection for the sea. As old prejudices and everyday misunderstandings collide with shifting relationships, their lives are tested by discrimination, emotional upheaval, and signs of an approaching storm that could threaten those living on the surface.
