Photo Kano

Kazuya Maeda is a high schooler stuck in a rut, drifting through days that feel flat and unremarkable. Just before summer break ends, his father hands him an old camera, and what begins as reluctant curiosity turns into a budding interest in photography. With a lens in hand, Kazuya starts searching for classmates willing to pose, hoping to capture something more vivid than his usual routine.

Models soon step forward from all corners of school life: Haruka Niimi, his well-known childhood friend; Nonoka Masaki, the softball club’s standout pitcher; Aki Muroto, the student council president; Hikari Sanehara, who shares his interest in cameras; Tomoe Misumi, a shy classmate; Rina Yunoki, the Cooking Research Society’s sole member; and Mai Sakura, a friend of his sister. As photo sessions bring him closer to each of them, Kazuya finds his days gaining color—and begins to question whether those connections are limited to the viewfinder.
