Star Blazers: The Quest for Iscandar

In 2199, Earth has been devastated by relentless attacks from the Gamilas Empire. With the surface left dangerously irradiated, humanity survives underground as the contamination steadily spreads, leaving less than a year before extinction becomes inevitable.

After every attempt to fight back is crushed, a desperate lifeline arrives: an emergency message from the planet Iscandar in a neighboring galaxy, offering a way to restore Earth. Working in secrecy, the Earth Self Defense Force develops a faster-than-light engine and refits the World War II battleship Yamato into the Space Battleship Yamato, outfitting it with new weaponry and a resolute military crew for a hazardous voyage across space to save their world.
