Ichinomiya Kantarou has been able to see demons since childhood—a gift that left him isolated and bullied by those who couldn’t understand it. Rather than fear them, he grew close to the spirits he encountered, developing a deep attachment to their existence and the hidden world around him.

After hearing rumors of a legendary, unmatched demon—the ogre-eating Tengu—Kantarou becomes determined to find it, already deciding to call the being Haruka if they ever meet. Years of searching lead him to make his living as a folklore writer and demon-buster, until a new job brings a crucial lead: a nearby shrine said to be the place where the ogre-eating Tengu was sealed.
