Kimihiro Watanuki has the unwanted gift of seeing spirits and other supernatural beings, a talent that leaves him constantly harassed and desperate for relief. One day, while being pursued by these unsettling presences, he finds himself drawn to an unfamiliar house as if by force.

Inside, he meets the enigmatic Yuuko, who offers to free him from his troublesome ability—provided he can pay her price. To settle the debt, Watanuki becomes an assistant at her wish-granting shop, where each request pulls him into a string of strange, mysterious encounters that blur the line between the everyday and the otherworldly.
