Synopsis
Settled into daily life at Ooezo Agricultural High School, Yuugo Hachiken begins to see beyond the novelty of farm work and confront what school life truly demands. As he grows more capable and learns more about himself through the routines and responsibilities around him, he’s even asked to take on the role of vice-president of the Equestrian Club.
With a new semester comes fresh agricultural challenges and personal tensions, putting Hachiken’s resolve to the test. Even so, he keeps moving forward alongside his classmates, searching for a dream he can call his own while continuing to learn the value of working together.
Otaku Consensus
Kotomi Deai’s grounded direction and Taku Kishimoto’s disciplined pacing turn the second season into a sharper, more emotionally demanding continuation, with the Equestrian Club material making Hachiken’s habit of accepting responsibility especially effective. Reviewers consistently praise its seamless adaptation continuity, agricultural literacy, and balance of comedy with coming-of-age pressure, reflected in its 8.27 MyAnimeList score and 81/100 AniList rating. Its chief weakness is structural: the compact 11-episode run deepens several long-term conflicts without offering the closure of a complete destination.
Why You Should Watch
Watch this if you want a school comedy where practical knowledge matters and hard work is neither glamorized nor dismissed. Silver Spoon treats food, animal care, club obligations, and rural livelihoods as interconnected systems, then mines humor from Hachiken’s earnest inability to stop volunteering for more responsibility. It scratches the same itch as Barakamon’s fish-out-of-water growth and Yuru Camp’s enthusiasm for useful detail, but with sharper attention to labor, family expectations, and the economics behind everyday meals. Season two is especially rewarding for viewers who prefer character development expressed through decisions rather than speeches: Hachiken’s progress is measured by what he can handle, what he still misunderstands, and when helping someone becomes a way to avoid confronting himself. Start with season one; this continuation assumes emotional and institutional familiarity.
Key Characters
- YYuugo Hachiken(VA: Ryouhei Kimura)
Hachiken remains compelling because his intelligence cannot solve his compulsion to shoulder other people’s burdens, turning ordinary school responsibilities into revealing tests of judgment.
- AAki Mikage(VA: Marie Miyake)
Mikage’s calm competence and understated warmth conceal a resonant conflict between inherited expectations and the future she privately wants.
What Makes It Stand Out
- 1
The season continues directly from its predecessor rather than resetting its relationships or re-explaining agricultural school life, allowing all 11 episodes to concentrate on consequences and maturation.
- 2
A-1 Pictures combines grounded rural environments and carefully observed animals with brief chibi exaggeration, using visual comedy without turning agricultural work into slapstick.
- 3
Kotomi Deai’s direction places unusual weight on routine, fatigue, and physical responsibility, while Taku Kishimoto’s series composition keeps those practical details tied to character choices rather than presenting them as detached lessons.
- 4
The Equestrian Club thread gives the season a concrete framework for examining leadership: Hachiken’s vice-presidential role tests delegation, reliability, and his tendency to equate usefulness with self-worth.
- 5
Food and agriculture function as material subjects rather than decorative themes; the series repeatedly connects what people eat to animal care, labor, environmental conditions, and rural livelihoods.
