Black Jack is a brilliant yet “unregistered” surgeon whose shadowy past keeps him at arm’s length from the medical establishment. Traveling from case to case with his small assistant Pinoko—who openly adores him—he takes on patients and conditions that rarely make the headlines, often veering into the unusual, the perilous, and the unknown.

Renowned in medical and scientific circles across the world, he can pull off near-impossible operations, but his skill comes at a steep price: he expects to be paid.
