The Disappearance of Nagato Yuki-chan

In an alternate take on a familiar world, quiet bookworm and avid gamer Yuki Nagato serves as president of North High School’s tiny Literary Club. Alongside the cautious Ryouko Asakura and the unremarkable Kyon, she treasures the club’s calm routine—especially the time she spends near Kyon, the boy she secretly likes. Their room also sees regular drop-ins from the lively Tsuruya and the gentle Mikuru Asahina, whose contrasting personalities keep things from ever getting too dull.

One chilly day in December, Yuki is talked into drawing odd symbols on the ground by a girl determined to “catch” Santa Claus. That girl is Haruhi Suzumiya, an eccentric student from the elite Kouyouen Academy, obsessed with finding aliens, time travelers, and espers. Before long, Haruhi and her companion Itsuki Koizumi barge into the clubroom, announce their membership, and Haruhi promptly installs herself as the club’s executive president.

With peace and quiet replaced by Haruhi’s relentless momentum, the Literary Club is swept into one misadventure after another—each new incident nudging Yuki and Kyon a little closer together.
