Synopsis

Alcia runs on a ruthless metric called “Count”—a number etched onto each person’s body that reflects some aspect of their life and dictates both status and strength. When that number falls to zero, its owner is cast into the Abyss, a fate whispered to be worse than death.

After watching her mother taken by the Abyss, Hina begins traveling with a Count tied to the distance she’s covered, determined to carry out her mother’s final request. Her search leads her to the legendary Aces, celebrated heroes from a war three hundred years earlier, marked by a white star beside their Count. Along the way she crosses paths with the masked and elusive Licht Bach, whose Count is negative, and Nana, a tavern proprietor—only for Hina to be maneuvered into a confrontation with a military soldier. Licht intervenes, and his true connection to the Aces begins to surface as Hina and her companions move closer to the secrets behind Alcia, the Abyss, and the legends that shaped their world.
