Shy and reserved, 15-year-old Yu-yu Kondou often finds himself at the mercy of his energetic sisters, who are relentless in their quirky demands. When they push him to crossdress for their amusement, Yu-yu decides to escape their antics, leading him on an unexpected journey. During his flight, he meets Megumi Ookura, a spirited girl who introduces him to Team Blackout, a passionate group of friends engaged in the strategic card game, Cardfight Vanguard.

As Yu-yu immerses himself in the vibrant world of Team Blackout, he forms bonds with its members—Danji Momoyama, Zakusa Ishigame, Tomari Seto, and Megumi. Through his experiences with them, he begins to unravel his own potential and discover the thrill of friendship, competition, and self-acceptance, all while navigating the challenges of adolescence.
