Sixteen-year-old Setsuna Mudo tries to keep a low profile at school and avoid trouble with older bullies, all while carrying a painful secret: he’s in love with his younger sister, Sara, whom he only gets to see about once a month. What already feels like an impossible life is only the beginning.

Before long, Setsuna is attacked by strange, otherworldly figures—angels and demons—each insisting they know who he truly is. The angels claim he is the reincarnation of their leader, Alexiel, while the demons insist he once drove them into a war against God.
