Sasaki and Peeps

At 39, salaryman Sasaki has settled into a quiet, uneventful routine—until he adopts a Java sparrow he names Pii-chan. The bird can talk, claims to be the reincarnation of a renowned magician from another world, and shares a portion of its magic with Sasaki, including the ability to travel between worlds. With that door opened, Sasaki starts turning a profit by bringing modern goods into a less technologically developed realm.

The newfound freedom doesn’t last. After using his powers to thwart an attempt on a woman’s life, Sasaki draws the attention of Hoshizaki, the very government agent he saved—someone assigned to monitor people with unusual abilities. Pressed into working with her covert organization, he’s pulled into risky operations targeting other gifted offenders, even as tensions rise in the other world and the threat of war looms. Caught between two realities, Sasaki is forced to step up to keep both worlds from tipping into chaos.
