Ruri Rocks

High schooler Ruri Tanigawa can’t take her eyes off a crystal necklace while out shopping, but its price puts it firmly out of reach. Then her mother mentions a mountain area where Ruri’s grandfather once found all kinds of minerals, giving Ruri an idea: if she can locate her own stones, she might be able to make accessories herself. Setting off to search, she runs into Nagi Arato, a graduate student who’s happy to guide her.

When they reach a massive quartz formation, Ruri is instantly captivated—and even more determined to learn. She persuades Nagi to teach her mineralogy, and with every new find and lesson, her fascination grows into something deeper than collecting pretty rocks. Along the way, Ruri begins to see minerals for more than their monetary value, discovering the stories and science hidden inside each specimen.
