Tokyo Majin

An ominous presence begins to seep through Tokyo’s shadows when Tatsuma Hiyuu, a reserved transfer student, arrives at Magami Academy in Shinjuku during the spring of his final high school year. Though treated as an outsider, his exceptional martial arts ability draws the attention of delinquent Kyouichi Houraiji, and soon brings him into contact with wrestler Yuuya Daigo, archery captain Komaki Sakurai, and student council president Aoi Misato.

Their meeting coincides with a violent disturbance in the Ryumyaku—an arcane current known as the Dragon Pulse—awakening hidden powers within the five students. Guided by Hisui Kisaragi, heir to the Kisaragi Clan and keeper of an antiques shop, they learn their abilities are tied to a responsibility: defending Tokyo from oni and other supernatural threats. As they fight back the growing onslaught, it becomes clear the Ryumyaku was disrupted deliberately by someone wielding dark arts, intent on reviving an ancient evil—forcing the group to confront not only monsters, but the fate that awaits them.

Tokyo Majin is adapted from a manga, itself based on a Nintendo role-playing game first released in 1998.
