True Tears

Shinichirou Nakagami seems enviably close to Hiromi Yuasa, a gifted classmate who lives under the same roof. At school, Hiromi’s sunny demeanor draws attention, but at home she turns distant and weighed down by grief after her mother’s death—fueling gossip and the quiet jealousy of their peers.

Shinichirou’s life grows more complicated when he meets Noe Isurugi, a girl infamous for “curses” that have a way of coming true. After Noe directs one at him, the consequences rebound in an unexpected form—threatening her beloved chicken, Raigomaru. Noe insists she cannot cry, claiming her tears were stolen, and believes she can only regain them by taking someone else’s. Caught between these fragile emotions and spreading rumors, Shinichirou finds’ himself drawn toward a choice he never expected to consider.
